The House Committee on Veterans Affairs has unanimously approved H.R. 3882, a bipartisan bill that would eliminate an unintended consequence of the law that renders many National Guard and Selected Reserve members ineligible for the GI Bill Reserve Education Assistance Program (REAP). All though the committee fully supports this legislation a hurdle remains regarding a Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimate that the bill will cost more than $30 million over 10 years. According to a recent press release the committee is committed to eliminating the injustice despite any blocks thrown up by CBO.
