Exchanges Promote Suicide Awareness

As part of the national observance that begins with Suicide Prevention Week (Sept. 7-13) and continues throughout the month, commissaries are giving away magnets and eco-friendly shopping bags that promote mental health screenings. The screenings are available online and by telephone at 1-877-877-3647. For more information, visit the Screening for Mental Health website. If you're thinking of hurting yourself, or if you're concerned that someone else may be suicidal, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline number at 1-800-273-TALK (8255); it's open 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Veterans can call the same telephone number and press "1" to be routed to the Veterans Hotline.
