Dual-Military Couples Must Update DEERS
Week of September 22, 2008
Navy Personnel Command's Customer Service Center is calling dual-military couples to inform them that their marital status has not been updated in Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS), which could affect their life insurance premiums. "The issue of accountability for our dual-military couples is that these couples upon marriage... don't necessarily go into a DEERS site at Personnel Support Detachment or Pass and ID to receive the benefits associated with a new card," said Kathy Wardlaw, DEERS policy analyst, Bureau of Naval Personnel. For more information on FSGLI coverage, visit the Navy Personnel Command's FSLIG webpage, or call 1-866-U-ASK-NPC.
