DoD Sets Enlistment Waiver Standards

The Department of Defense (DoD) recently set standards for how individual services will offer conduct waivers to recruits. Individual offenses have been classified into four categories. Services are free to create their own policies that are stricter than what DoD standardized. The DoD also created standard codes that describe the particulars of an offence. Recruiters would enter those standardized codes on enlistment records. This new policy will go into effect on Oct. 1, 2008 and does not prohibit further changes. The new policy is available in PDF format.
