The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) is currently promoting disaster preparedness through its "What's in Your Closet" campaign, prompting customers to check their closet "survival kits" and purchase items that are missing. DeCA recommends customers have the following items in their "closet": (1) water -- at least one gallon, daily, per person for three to seven days; (2) nonperishable foods; (3) paper goods; (4) cooking items; (5) a first-aid kit; (6) cleaning materials; (7) toiletries; (8) pet care items; and (9) lighting accessories -- flashlight, batteries, candles and matches. For more information about how to best prepare for emergencies , visit the Federal Emergency Management Agency website, the Department of Homeland Security website and the American Red Cross website.
