Coast Guard Investigates Lost Files

The U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Service has opened an investigation into 50 missing merchant mariner files from a sealed box sent via FedEx. Since Social Security numbers and other personal information were in the files, mariners affected by this loss have been advised to monitor financial accounts for suspicious activity and review their credit reports. Every consumer is entitled by law to one free credit report annually from each major credit bureau - Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.
