Parents should teach children about the dangers of unexploded ordnance (UXOs) and about off-limits areas on their base installation. Unexploded ordnance is interesting in color and may be tempting for children. Large signs often mark the dangerous areas on an installation. Remember the three R's, Recognize, Retreat and Report. If you see something unusual laying on the ground: (1) do not touch it--Recognize it; (2) leave the area the same way you entered--Retreat; and (3) mark the area and call range control-- Report it.
