The Michigan Veteran Affairs Agency recently launched a "one-stop shop" for veterans to learn about all state, federal and local benefits they are eligible for. Veterans can get information by calling 2-1-1, 1-800-MICH-VET or visit the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency website at www.michiganveterans.com. Currently, nearly $1.7 million in new money from the federal government will help 312 homeless veterans in Michigan find permanent housing. The veterans contribute to the rent, but usually no more than 30 percent of their income on rent. Veterans can learn more about the program by contacting the housing authorities listed in this news article.
