Be Prepared for Hurricane Season
Week of June 01, 2009
The 2009 Atlantic Hurricane season begins in June. To keep you and your family safe in the event of a natural disaster, be sure to have a complete emergency kit on hand. Keep it up to date, make sure everything works and make sure your food and water has not expired. Along with food, water, a battery-operated weather radio, flashlights and first-aid supplies, include any medical necessities you may need in your kit. Keep in mind that medical assistance may not be available immediately after a disaster. For more information and more tips on disaster preparedness, visit the Department of Homeland Security's preparedness webpage and the TRICARE's disaster relief webpage. Some downloads include a wallet card with critical contact information and a disaster preparation flyer.
