Army Develops Global Network

The U.S. Army is developing a global network that Soldiers will be able to access anywhere in the world using capabilities similar to a Blackberry or iPhone. With the Global Network Enterprise Construct (CNEC), Soldiers will some day have universal access to the network, wherever they deploy, with a single e-mail, and a single phone number. Future network users should be able to use their Common Access Card for global access with the chip in the CAC working similar to a Subscriber Identity Module or SIM card in a cell phone. More information on the Army's Global Network Enterprise Construct (CNEC) is available in a brochure in PDF format on army.mil.
