Starting in January 2008, recruiters will offer new select enlistees up to $40,000 toward their mortgage or to start a business under the new Army Advantage Program. The $40,000 requires a five-year commitment. Enlistees can receive lesser amounts for shorter terms. The money will be available after finishing the term. The new program will be tested in Cleveland, Montgomery, Ala.; Albany, N.Y.; Seattle and San Antonio before it's offered nationwide.
