Bridge Run Early Bird Special!

SAN DIEGO - Be one of 8,000 participants to experience San Diego from on top of the Coronado Bay Bridge. The Navy’s 22nd Original Bay Bridge Run/Walk presented by San Diego Gas & Electric takes place Sunday, May 18 at 8 a.m. and we are looking for you!

Now is a great time to register as an “early bird” and save money! Visit www.mwrtoday.com and save $3 per individual or $5 per team if you sign up before February 29, 2008. And don’t forget! Included in your entry is a ticket to the May 25, 2008 Padres baseball game against the Cincinnati Reds.

The scenic racecourse, sanctioned by the U.S.A. Track and Field Association, starts in San Diego’s downtown Gaslamp Quarter and finishes in Coronado’s Tidelands Park. This event offers the ONLY opportunity to cross the Coronado Bridge on foot in 2008!

The Navy Region Southwest Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Program (MWR) hosts this outstanding event that joins the San Diego community with the military for their shared enjoyment. Profits generated from the event directly support quality of life programs at all San Diego Navy installations.

All participants receive a commemorative race T-shirt, transportation to the Gaslamp Quarter after the event, access to the Sponsor Expo, live entertainment, an entry into prize drawings and an admission ticket to the May 25, San Diego Padres baseball game at PETCO Park. Autographed Padres baseball awards will be presented for age group and team division winners.

Event Registration:

Registration is available on-line at www.mwrtoday.com or applications may be printed from the MWR website and mailed to the address listed.

Entry fees postmarked by Saturday, May 3 are $35 for adults, $30 for military active duty and seniors (65+), $20 for children 4-12 years of age, and $180 for a competitive 5-person running team. After May 3, fees increase to $40 for adults, $35 for military active duty and seniors (65+), $25 for children 4-12 years of age, and $205 for a competitive 5-person running team. Participation for children 3 and under is FREE. There is no day of race registration available.

MWR will host a public Pre-Race Registration Event* on Saturday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at RoadRunner Sports, 5553 Copley Drive, San Diego. Participants may register and pick up their event bib number, T-shirt and May 25, Padres game ticket. Pre-registered participants must bring their mailed bib number to pick up their T-shirt and game ticket. * Pre-Race Registration Event is open until the race sells out. Race is capped at 8,000 participants.

MWR will also host two Military Pre-Race Registration Events. Anyone with base access and valid ID may register during the events. The registration events take place at the Naval Air Station North Island Navy Exchange on Friday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday, May 3 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Naval Base San Diego Navy Exchange. * Pre-Race Registration Events are open until the race sells out. Race is capped at 8,000 participants.
