FROGMAN Triathlon a Competition with a Cause

Daytona FROGMAN Triathlon to donate 100% of net proceeds to the Naval Special Warfare Foundation

Athletes will come from all over to compete in this Olympic distance triathlon, but it's not only about the competition, it's also about the cause.

"DO YOU CARE TO INVEST IN YOUR FREEDOM?"

As our service men and women leave to serve our country, their families and friends wait months before their loved one return.

Sadly, some will not come home or they come home severely wounded. For the families of our Navy SEALs and Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen (SWCC) there is an organization that helps - it is the Naval Special Warfare Foundation.

In March 2010, hundreds of triathletes will compete in the Daytona FROGMAN Triathlon.

Rob Wallace, a Vietnam Navy Veteran and Ironman finisher, with two sons serving in the Navy, is truly passionate about this event. As Race Director and a NSWF Ambassador, he and his staff are volunteering all of their time and talent to help the families of America's fallen heroes.

We invite you to join us! On Sunday, March 21, 2010, the Daytona FROGMAN Triathlon will be held in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida. The triathletes will begin with a 1500 meter ocean swim, bike 40K and finish with a 10K run. Each finisher will receive an inaugural commemorative medal and awards are given to the top 3 finishers in each category. We encourage the community to come out on Sunday morning and cheer on the triathletes.

On Saturday, March 20, 2010, Plan B Cycling will be hosting an Expo with vendors from all over the country. Past and present Navy SEALs and SWCCs will be present and the NSWF will have an inspirational speaker. Additionally, the 4th annual grueling BATTLE FOR THE BEACH will be held in front of the Shores Spa & Resort. This event is free to everyone. If you would like to be a sponsor or volunteer for this event, or become a plank owner by competing in the Daytona FROGMAN Triathlon, visit our website for additional details.

'Leap Frogs' to Jump at Daytona Frogman Triathlon

The U.S. Navy Parachute Team, also known as the Leap Frogs, will perform parachute demonstration during the 2010 Daytona Frogman Triathlon in Daytona Beach, Fl., March 20-21

While the triathlon is focused on raising money for the Naval Special Warfare Foundation, the Team hopes to inspire athletes and spectators to consider a career in the Navy SEAL and Special Boat Teams.

The event is a USAT sanctioned Olympic-distance triathlon that consists of a 1,500-meter ocean swim, a 40 km bike ride followed by a 10 km run. There will be special categories for military members and challenged athletes.

Scheduled Navy Parachute Team performances are:

Saturday, March 20 at 3:45 p.m. at
Sunday, March 21 at 7 a.m. at

The Navy Parachute Team, known as the Leap Frogs, was created in the late 1960s, when Navy SEALs performed at air shows on weekends. The Department of Defense then officially commissioned the NPT in 1974 with the mission of demonstrating Navy excellence throughout the United States. The Leap Frogs are based in San Diego.

The team currently consists of parachutists who are Navy SEAL (SEa, Air and Land) and SWCC (Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewman) commandos. SEALs are the U.S. Navy's Special Operations force and the maritime component of U.S. Special Operations Command. SEALs are an offensive force focused on small unit operations, which allow for increased mobility and flexibility. SWCC operators maintain the inventory of state-of-the-art, highperformance boats used for special operations missions. They are extensively trained in special operations craft and weapons tactics, techniques and procedures.

Leap Frog performances include canopy formations that team members create with their blue and gold parachutes. Some demonstrations also include colorful smoke streaming from the parachutists, brilliant pyrotechnics, and patriotic presentation of the American flag.
