May 27: National Memorial Day Parade

This year's parade will include country star Trace Adkins, wounded warrior and Dancing with the Stars winner JR Martinez, actors Gary Sinise & Joe Mantegna, Miss America 2013 Mallory Hagan, and American Idol winner Taylor Hicks. The parade will take place Monday, May 27, 2013 at 2:00 PM on Constitution Avenue in Washington, DC.

May 27: National Cemeteries

May 1-31: Hawaii Chamber of Commerce Events and Discounts

Activites are held all over the islands to show Hawaii's appreciation for our military Ohana, and many businesses offer discounts and provide support to local programs supporting Hawaiii's service men and women and their families.

May 1-31: Myrtle Beach, SC - Military Appreciation Days

Myrtle Beach will host Military Appreciation Days during May 2013. This month-long celebration is sponsored by the City of Myrtle Beach and PGBA, LLC, as a "thank you" to service men and women – and their families – for all that they do on our behalf. The celebration includes active duty military personnel, reserves, National Guard and veterans from all service branches.

During May, military personnel and their families can look for discounts to area restaurants and attractions, free concerts, the big Memorial Day weekend parade, a 5K run and other special events. For Military Appreciation Days, the city also will host a delegation of 25 Wounded Warriors from our nation’s recent conflicts. May 20: Military Appreciation Day at the Celebrity Championship, San Diego

As a special "thank you", all San Diego active and retired military are invited to enjoy FREE admission to this golf tournament, and the first 1,500 military to register will enjoy free food in an exclusive military area compliments of Carl's Jr. For lunch sign-ups and more information, visit the tournament website.

Military Appreciation Month Congress designated May as National Military Appreciation Month in 1999 to ensure the nation was given the opportunity to publically demonstrate their appreciation for the sacrifices and successes made by our servicemembers - past and present. Each year the president makes a proclamation, reminding Americans of the important role the U.S. Armed Forces have played in the history and development of our country.
