TSB Marines Receive Gold Jump Wings
Marine Corps News | Terence L. Yancey | November 21, 2005
CAMP FOSTER, OKINAWA, Japan - Newly pinned Navy and Marine Corps Parachutist Insignia hangs from Lance Cpl. David O. Williams’ uniform. Williams was among 10 Marines with Air Delivery Platoon, Landing Support Company, Transportation Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, who received the “gold jump wings” in a ceremony at Camp Foster’s parade deck Nov. 8.

To qualify for the gold wings, the Marines, who received their basic parachutist qualification at the U.S. Army Airborne School at Fort Benning, Ga., had to complete five additional jumps after Airborne School, including two day jumps and two night jumps wearing a full combat load as well as one jump any time of day without combat load. Twelve Marines from Landing Support Company made their final necessary jump, a night combat jump, at Clark Air Base, Philippines, during Exercise Talon Vision. Lance Cpl. Lecrecia Pettit was not present for the presentation ceremony but received her wings later. Williams is an air defense specialist.
