SEOUL — Military officials are urging shoppers at Pacific bases to make sure they don’t have recalled frozen pizzas and cat vitamins in their homes. The products, recalled on Nov. 1, include Jeno’s and Totino’s frozen meat pizzas, produced by General Mills, which were potentially contaminated with e. coli bacteria; and Vitamin Care for Cats, produced by Hartz Mountain Corp. and potentially contaminated with salmonella.

Consumers should dispose of these products or return them to the store where they were purchased for a refund, according to a military news release.

Myong Brown, an administrator at the Yongsan Garrison commissary in South Korea, said her store pulled the items two weeks ago.

“We’re not going to carry it until they say it’s OK to continue,” she said.

Commissary managers in Japan and Okinawa also said they pulled the recalled products one to two weeks ago.

“The concern was e. coli,” said Jeff Dusich, store director at Yokota Air Base. “That’s big. We had to react.”

The recalled pizzas are Jeno’s Crisp ’N Tasty Pizza, and Totino’s The Original Crisp Crust Party Pizza. For both brands, the affected varieties are pepperoni and sausage-and-pepperoni combination.
