Sailors at Washington Navy Yard to get “Street Smart” About Drunk Driving, Illegal Drugs and Seat Belt Use


While military personnel make life and death decisions on the battlefield, they face those same critical choices on the home front. Sailors at the Washington Navy Yard will experience a dramatic and gripping program called Street Smart aimed at helping them make smart, safe choices when it comes to underage drinking, drunk driving and illegal drug use. 

 

What: Media availability after the Street Smart presentation.  From Nov. 5-15, Sailors at 10 Washington D.C. area naval bases have experienced this dramatic program. The Street Smart “Protecting Those Who Protect Us” tour has conducted 19 presentations, with the final appearance at 1 p.m., Nov. 15, at the Washington Navy Yard.  Media are invited to attend.

When: 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 15. (The Street Smart presentation will begin at 1 p.m. Media availability to follow.)

Where: Washington Navy Yard, SE Washington, D.C.

NOTE: The firefighter/paramedics will be available for interviews before and after the Street Smart presentation.
