Admiral Transfers Helm of Pacific Support Command
U.S. Coast Guard | June 22, 2006
Coast Guard Island, Alameda, CA. - Rear Adm. Jody A. Breckenridge, will be relieved by Rear Adm. Manson K. Brown as Commander, Coast Guard Maintenance and Logistics Command Pacific during a change of command ceremony here at 10:30 a.m. today.
Breckenridge, who has been stationed on Coast Guard Island as the Maintenance and Logistics Command Pacific Commander since May 2003, took the helm of the co-located Eleventh Coast Guard District on March 30, 2006.

The Maintenance and Logistics Command provides support to Coast Guard units and people located west of the Rocky Mountains and across 73 million square miles of the Pacific Ocean to ensure Coast Guard vessels and shore activities are fully capable of meeting their assigned missions by providing a broad range of electronics, naval and civil engineering, financial management, health and safety, legal programs, logistics and personnel support.  The success of all Coast Guard operations in the Pacific region, including homeland security, search and rescue, national defense, marine safety, law enforcement, aids to navigation, and polar ice operations, are directly linked to these vital services.

Brown recently transferred from Honolulu, Hawaii, where he was Commander of Coast Guard Sector Honolulu.  In this position, Brown commanded a multi-mission unit that provided homeland security, search and rescue, law enforcement, marine safety, environmental protection, aids to navigation and other services across more than 250,000 square miles of the Pacific Ocean that includes the Hawaiian Islands.

Vice Adm. Charles D. Wurster, Commander, Coast Guard Pacific Area will preside over the ceremony.

A change of command ceremony is a time honored naval tradition, which formally restates the continuity and authority of command.
