Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, will make a special guest appearance on Lifetime's series "Army Wives. "
She will play herself in an episode to air Aug. 15, the network announced today. Lifetime officials say she is doing it to help raise awareness of the service and sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and their families.
In the episode entitled "Mud, Sweat, and Tears," Biden visits Fort Marshall to kick off the post's annual "Fun Run," a road race and obstacle course for the local community and post families, in support of a summer camp for children of military families.
While on post, Biden also visits with military spouses to discuss some of the challenges their families face on a daily basis while their loved ones are deployed. Many real Army wives also will be featured in the episode.
Biden also will be in a public service announcement encouraging all Americans to take part.
It will air during the Aug. 15 episode and made available on myLifetime.com.
Jill Biden has been an educator for the past 29 years and continues to teach English classes at a Washington, DC-area community college. She has a doctorate in education from the University of Delaware.
As a Blue Star Mom, she has made military families one of her top priorities. She has traveled to many bases in both the United States and in Germany to speak with soldiers and their families and try to raise awareness and show appreciation for the special sacrifices that these Americans make.
In Delaware, she was active with a nonprofit organization called Delaware Boots on the Ground, which is dedicated to helping families during times of military deployment by organizing community events to raise awareness and support.
