Heatley Reportedly Tells Senators he Wants Out

Ottawa Senators forward Dany Heatley apparently is willing to waive the no-movement clause in his contract and accept a deal to another team. Published reports say Heatley's handlers and Senators brass are in talks to decide whether - or when -- he will be moved this offseason.
At 28, Heatley is a talented scoring winger who is a season into a six-year, $45 million contract he signed last October. His relationship with the team soured last season when the Senators crumbled en route to missing the playoffs. He is unhappy with his role under coach Cory Clouston, who took over during last season. A postseason exit interview failed to resolve the issue, and neither did time away from the team.
As a result, Canada's TSN reports Heatley asked the team to trade him.
Whether a team would want him is not as much as question as whether it could foot his salary -- five years and $37.5 million remain, the Ottawa Citizen reports. It amounts to a $7.5 million hit against the salary cap.
Heatley had 39 goals and 33 assists in 82 games last season. The 72 points were his lowest point totals in his four seasons with the Senators. He had consecutive 50-goal seasons in 2005-06 and 2006-07.
Heatley reportedly wants to be dealt to a Western Conference team.
