Bruins Land Kaberle After Years of Speculation

It only took a couple years, but the Bruins have finally acquired defenseman Tomas Kaberle.
The Toronto Maple Leafs sent Kaberle, who will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, to the Boston Bruins for Boston's first-round pick in 2011, prospect Joe Colborne and a conditional draft pick.
The deal boosts Boston into serious Stanley Cup contender status and continues Toronto GM Brian Burke's recent stockpiling of young talent. He acquired Philadelphia's first-round pick in the Kris Versteeg trade and added talented prospect Jake Gardiner in the deal that sent Francois Beauchemin to Anaheim.
Even with the moves, the Maple Leafs remain in the playoff hunt, although a longshot to make it. Burke hasn't ruled out adding talent before the NHL trade deadline on Feb. 28.
"We haven't changed the blueprint," Burke said this week. "We're put together, probably the youngest team in the league now, if not one of them."
The 6-foot-5 Colborne was Boston's first-round draft pick (No. 16 overall) in 2008.
