Putin Office Not Amused by 'Putin Party'

United Press International

Putin Office Not Amused by 'Putin Party'Vladimir Putin's office says it's not sure it likes the idea of a "Putin Party" event at a Moscow nightclub being planned by fans of the Russian prime minister.

Dmitry Peskov, Putin's press secretary, said lawyers are consulting with the prime minister's office to determine whether Rai Nightclub's planned "Putin Party" would negatively affect Putin's image, RIA Novosti reported Tuesday.

The planned March 6 event bears the slogan: "I want the prime minister!"

"We wanted to stress that we are choosing the prime minister above everyone," a club spokeswoman said.

Peskov said the club may have violated Russian law by failing to obtain Putin's permission to use his name and likeness in advertising for the party.
