An airline passenger should have stuck to generalities when he claimed he was carrying cooked rabbit meat in his luggage when he arrived in New York.
Roger Levans of Queens was arrested when Customs inspectors failed to locate any rabbit in his three bags, but did allegedly come up with three kilos (6.6 pounds) of cocaine.
The criminal complaint filed in Brooklyn said Levans told agents he was carrying "cooked rabbit" among the food items listed on his Customs declaration, the New York Daily News said Tuesday.
But as agents took a closer look, they found instead fruits, vegetables and three brick-like packages wrapped in masking tape that certainly didn't appear to be rabbit.
Levans was arrested and later released on $100,000 bond.
