"The Collector" Not Screened for Critics
What is it? Ex-con plots a heist at a country home, unaware that a second criminal has rigged it with a series of deadly traps.
Why didn't Freestyle Releasing show it to the press? Small label, limited budget. The studio has rarely screened anything for us and referred us to their publicist, who didn't return our call.
What others are saying: "The Collector" is "for the horror fans that want it hardcore and brutal. The film is littered with insane traps that would make Jigsaw jealous, and is edited in a way where the viewer is given no chance to hide." From www.bloody-disgusting.com.
Why we'd see it: We like Andrea Roth in cable's "Rescue Me"... might be fun to see her in a different sort of role.
Why we wouldn't: It's director Marcus Dunstan's debut after writing several "Saw" scripts. We're not fans of snuff stuff.
Rated R
Run time: 1:28
