Universal Pictures said Wednesday it will make at least four movies in the next six years based on Hasbro Inc. games and toys.
The movies may be based on such Hasbro properties as Monopoly, Candy Land, Clue, Ouija, Battleship, Magic, The Gathering or Stretch Armstrong, the two companies said in a joint statement.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but Hasbro said it will partner exclusively with Universal for the feature films. However, Hasbro said its Transformers is one exception since the action figures were made into a movie last year. Also, GI Joe will not be part of the partnership since it is already being made into a movie.
The first movie under the partnership will be released in 2010 or 2011, with at least one film being released per year after the initial release.
Hasbro shares rose 55 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $26.67 in morning trading.
