Christopher Meloni, who quit "Law & Order: SVU" after 12 seasons, says in New York he will play a general in the upcoming Superman movie "Man of Steel."
Meloni told New York magazine he couldn't provide any additional details of his role in the movie.
"I can't tell you, or I'd have to kill you," Meloni said of his role in the upcoming Superman movie.
Earlier speculation with Meloni playing the bald-headed villain Lex Luthor were wrong, the report said.
Filming for the movie starts at the end of August, with scenes filmed in a variety of locations, including Chicago, Vancouver, and Edwards Air Force Base in California.
Asked about his feelings over leaving NBC's "Law & Order," Meloni said, "I feel very blessed to have been a part of it; I loved the people, every person. I loved going to work. And yet with all that, we did the best we could to try to make things work for everyone, and in the end it was just better for me to keep moving and I have no regrets."
Meloni said his co-star in the television show, Mariska Hargitay, is a "little sad" over his departure.
"I think she's a little sad, as am I," Meloni said. "You know, I don't know if there's been any other duo for 12 years on TV."
The report didn't say when the Superman movie would be released.
