NEW YORK -- A new full-length feature film is to be released next month with "Before I Self Destruct," U.S. hip-hop star 50 Cent's latest album, Interscope Records said.
"Though 50 Cent has sold nearly 30 million albums worldwide and scored eight Top 10 Hot 100 hits, he has not forgotten the hard times," his record label said in a news release. "So in these difficult economic days, the artist who debuted with 'Get Rich Or Die Tryin'' will give something back to his fans by adding a free DVD of a full-length original movie to his much anticipated fourth album, 'Before I Self Destruct.'"
Interscope said the gritty, 90-minute film, which also is called "Before I Self Destruct," was written, directed and stars Curtis Jackson, whose stage name is 50 Cent.
The film is described as a coming-of-age story about an inner-city youth raised by a hard-working single mother. When his dream of becoming a basketball player fails to materialize, he finds himself employed in a supermarket. After his mother is tragically gunned down, Clarence, played by Jackson, is consumed by revenge and begins a life of crime to support his younger brother.
For a limited time, the CD-DVD package will also include a second DVD featuring, "Two Turntables and A Microphone: The Life and Death of Jam Master Jay," a documentary about 50 Cent's late mentor and friend.
The films and CD are set for release Nov. 23.
