Lair has all the promise of a lavish epic: a world ravaged by conflict, deceit and betrayal. Huge dragons and towering castles. Lair tells the tale of a group of dragon riders who must defeat the vicious Mokai to save the Asylian civilisation.

The in-game movies are impressive enough, but even then, everything seems to have a soft edge about it. Graphically, Lair just didn't impress me.

Much has been made of the Sixaxis controller used to fly your dragon. I'm sad to report that the controls are clumsy and frustrating.

Lair isn't the worst game around but it doesn't live up to the hype that was heaped upon it before its release.
