One year after the Xbox 360 release of the hugely popular BioShock, people are still talking about it. Many people (including a certain military.com reviewer) called it the game of the year, for the Xbox 360. If you’re one of the PlayStation 3 owners who kept reading about the awesomely creepy dystopian adventure but never got to play it, your wait is over. BioShock is now available on the PS3 complete with downloadable content, an added difficulty level and all of the genetic freaks you could ever want to destroy.

The biggest change in the PS3 version of the game is the new difficulty setting. Many complained that the first release was too easy to play through and this has definitely been addressed. Players now have the option to not use vita-chambers, life regenerators that allow you to continue close to where you died. That option adds a great challenge that I suggest saving for the second play-through. The stunning, and sometimes chilling, graphics (including the brilliant water effects) remain intact, and load times have been kept to a minimum. Also exclusive to the PS3, add-on Game content will be available only via the PlayStation Network starting November 20. Priced at $9.99, it will add three "Challenge Rooms" to the game, each with a timed mini-scenario (unrelated to the game's main plotline). These scenarios take place in all-new areas of Rapture.
If you've already played through the game on the 360, this version is hasn’t changed quite enough to justify re-purchasing it; the inclusion of a harder difficulty mode is not enough to lure BioShock veterans back to Rapture. However, while I would have liked to see some more meaningful content added to the game, this is still one of the best ever first-person shooters and the undersea city of Rapture is a place that every gamer needs to visit at least once.
The PS3 Version of BioShock is available now and is priced at $59.99
