Namco unveiled a new trailer for their upcoming and highly anticipated Soulcalibur IV. Along with the trailer came the announcement that Namco and Lucas Arts will be partnering to bring some iconic Star Wars characters to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game. It looks like swords and lightsabers will clash as Sith Lord Darth Vader will appear as a guest character in the PLAYSTATION3 version of the title, and Jedi Master Yoda will be available for the Xbox 360.
The news is exciting, but not surprising. The Soulcalibur series has a history of bringing unexpected characters into it's universe. Soul Calibur II set the precedent with three console-exclusive characters back in the day: Heihachi from Tekken in the PS2 game, Link from The Legend of Zelda appearing in the GameCube game, and Spawn of comic and cartoon fame appearing in the Xbox game.
If the new trailer is any indication, the game will be absolutely stunning with the smooth look of Soulcalibur 3 getting a facelift for the HD capabilities of the next gen consoles. Namco also reports that the fourth game in the series will feature an entirely new battle system and an expanded customization mode. The customization mode was introduced in the third game and allows players to tailor the look of characters inside the game.
