Leading U.S. game software developer Electronic Arts Inc. has signed an exclusive license with the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club to offer a Wimbledon-themed tennis game for Nintendo Co.'s (TSE:7974) Wii game console.
The company will on Thursday launch "Sports Grand Slam Tennis," which features faithful replicas of the courts at Wimbledon. Users will be able to play as current stars like Kei Nishikori and Maria Sharapova as well as past legends like John McEnroe.
Using the Wii remote control as a tennis racquet, gamers will be able to produce top spins, smashes and other hits, with the motions to be reflected by the onscreen characters.
The game will also feature a calorie-consumption estimator to appeal to health-conscious users.
