Several military books by former service members from Fort Bragg, or books about Army life and wartime in general, will be released soon.
"The US Army's First, Last, and Only All-Black Rangers: The 2d Ranger Infantry Company (Airborne) in the Korean War, 1950-1951" is written by retired Army Master Sgt. Edward Posey.
The book, which has already been accepted by the Military Book Club, details the history of the elite, all-volunteer unit.
Posey joined the Army in 1947. He retired from the service in 1969 and was inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame in 2002.
The book is $32.95 from Savas Beatie.
Ed Nielsen of Hendersonville has published "Warriors," a nonfiction account of the Vietnam War.
In it, nine men who served give first-person accounts of what it was like to serve in that war, and they describe their days and nights in Southeast Asia.
The 240-page book is available from Amazon.com for $15.
Duke Barrett, who has served at Fort Bragg, used his wartime experiences and turned them into an adventure story, "The Wall of Broken Dreams." The novel is about the courage and conflict of a young soldier.
Barrett served in Vietnam as an infantryman and a reconnaissance scout with the 1st Air Cavalry Division at An Khe. Upon completion of his tour of duty, Barrett was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division, "America's Guard of Honor," at Fort Bragg. He then resumed his music career and toured coast-to-coast as a drummer. For information, visit dukesbrokendreams.com.
James Fredericks set his debut novel, "Brother," in North Carolina. The novel features the bond between a former Special Forces commando and his brother, a defense attorney.
The two men are forced to work together when the Special Forces soldier is falsely accused.
The brothers uncover deception, which forces choices between their careers and their friendship. For details, go to www.jamesfredericks.com.
