HONG KONG - "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" star Chow Yun-fat has published his first photo collection, featuring pictures from the sets of his movies.
Proceeds from sales of the book collection, which was launched Wednesday, will go to victims of the recent earthquake in China's central Sichuan province.
The book includes photos from the sets of "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," "Curse of the Golden Flower" and "The Children of Huangshi."
The Hong Kong actor said he took advantage of his free access on the movie sets. "I use my perspective to record things that happen in the film studio, the work of every actor and every crew member. I think it's quite fun," Chow said.
His book includes pictures of "Pirates" director Gore Verbinski; "Curse" director Zhang Yimou and co-star Gong Li; and "Children" director Roger Spottiswoode.
Chow says he became interested in photography after being moved by the scenery in China while shooting the Oscar-winning kung fu movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."
He said the late American photographer Ansel Adams, known for his grand photos of the American West, had influenced his style.
Chow's book is published by Louis Vuitton and will be on sale in the luxury bag maker's Hong Kong and Paris stores.
