The Navy has announced changes to the operating hours of their Virtual Education Center's (VEC) effective April 3.

Naval Education and Training Professional Development Center Voluntary Education (VOLED) Program Director Ernest D'Antonio said "Our new hours allow us to align and adapt our staff availability to peak traffic times when Sailors need us most. We are continually monitoring our call volume and comparing our service delivery with the needs of Sailors,"

D'Antonio noted that his staff is constantly analyzing data and the VEC hours may be readjusted in the future based on demand and available staffing.

The VEC performs the services of Navy College Offices which were closed on October 1, 2016 due to budget cuts. Currently the only CONUS Navy College Offices that remain open are:

  • Naval Bases Kitsap, WA
  • San Diego, CA
  • Norfolk, VA
  • NAS Jacksonville, FL
  • OUTCONUS locations

Sailors should use the VEC to apply for Tuition Assistance, explore education & career paths, receive counseling from a Navy College Education Counselor, research schools, develop an education plan, or get answers to any education related questions.

The VEC is available via telephone at 877-838-1659, DSN 492-4684, or Commercial 757-492-4684. It can also be contacted via email at VEC@navy.mil, or via the Navy's MyEducation portal at https://myeducation.netc.navy.mil/. There is also a smartphone app available that gives Sailors the convenience of contacting the VEC on the go.
