With grocery bills rising every day, how is a military family supposed to make the most of their grocery budget?

We all know the commissary can get you more bang for your buck, but where do you go if you need another alternative?

Three "big box warehouse" stores offer some nice discounts and benefits and are conveniently placed across the United States. Check out the breakdown for each warehouse below:

BJ's

All military personnel get over 25 percent off their membership at BJ's, plus a $10 coupon. BJ's Perks Rewards Memberships are $80, and BJ's Inner Circle Memberships are $40. This offer is valid in-Club or online, but keep in mind that it's only good for new members.

Sam's Club

Join or renew as a Sam's Club Member for $45 or Sam's Plus Member for $100 (plus taxes in some places) and get a $30 Military Member Package. The package includes a $10 Sam's Club gift card, a free rotisserie chicken ($4.98 value), a free lattice apple pie ($8.98 value), a free 20-count all-butter cocktail croissants ($5.98 value) and $2 off Member’s Mark Loaded Potato Salad. This offer is good for active and former military and their spouses.

Costco

Costco offers new military members over $60 in savings when they join. This offer is available for all members of the military, veterans, and their families.

And don't forget, just because a store doesn't advertise a military discount, it doesn't mean they don't offer one. So always carry your military ID with you and ask for a military discount wherever you go.

Fred Meyer

Fred Meyer offers a 10 percent military discount in-store. Some Fred Meyer locations offer the military discount on specific dates, so call your local store to ask when the discount is available.
