BERLIN -- Germany's Cabinet has approved a new plan that will see the country reducing the number of troops it has in Afghanistan by about a third over the next year.
The Cabinet on Wednesday agreed on a plan that will see the number of soldiers sink from about 4,900 at the moment to 3,300 by the end of 2013.
The reduction is in line with Germany's plan to remove all combat troops by the end of 2014.
The plan still needs Parliamentary approval but no major opposition is anticipated.
