Army Assesses Modern Vehicles for GCV Effort

Last week, the U.S. Army began operational assessments of existing combat vehicles to validate capabilities against requirements for a new Infantry Fighting Vehicle. The Non-Developmental Vehicle Assessments effort is occurring on Fort Bliss, Texas, and White Sands Missile Range, N.M.

MOH Recipient Retires from Active Duty

President Barack Obama has announced that Spc. 4 Leslie H. Sabo Jr., an infantryman with the 101st Airborne Division, will posthumously receive the Medal of Honor for saving several fellow soldiers when his platoon was ambushed May 10, 1970 during the Vietnam War.

Army Plans MRAP Future

The mine-resistant, ambush-protected vehicle has a future in the Army, said service officials, though it won't be part of an "MRAP brigade." MRAPs will be used for training Soldiers and for conducting route clearance. The vehicles will also be prepositioned for use when needed.

Anniston Army Depot Partners to Rebuild Saudi Tanks

Anniston Army Depot recently contracted to overhaul 143 M1 Abrams tanks for Saudi Arabia's Royal Saudi Land Forces through a partnership with General Dynamics Land Systems, at Lima Army Tank Plant in Ohio. An additional 129 tanks are awaiting funding.
