5. ACTIVE DUTY AND DEPNS SHOULD NOT DISENROLL FROM MANAGED CARE PROGRAMS (MCP) PRIOR TO TRANSFER. MANAGED CARE PROGRAMS INCLUDE TRICARE PRIME, AND TRICARE PRIME REMOTE. REVIEW HEALTH CARE BENEFITS AND THE PROPER PROCEDURES TO ACCESS HEALTH CARE PRIOR TO DEPARTING CURRENT DUTY STATION. MBR WILL NEED TO CONTACT THE HEALTH CARE FINDER/TRICARE SERVICE CENTER WHILE EN ROUTE TO NEW DUTY STATION FOR ALL CARE EXCEPT EMERGENCIES. FOR ALL DOCTORS' VISITS WHILE EN ROUTE, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT MBR USE PRIOR DUTY STATION ADDRESS TO AVOID BILLING ERRORS. A CRITICAL POINT TO REMEMBER IS THAT UNTIL PROPERLY DISENROLLED FROM YOUR PREVIOUS MCP, NON-EMERGENT CARE MUST BE PRE-AUTHORIZED BY THAT REGION. IT CANNOT BE STRESSED ENOUGH THAT THE MEMBER MUST ENSURE THAT DISENROLLMENT AND REENROLLMENT IS COMPLETED AS PART OF THE NORMAL CHECK-IN PROCEDURES. MEDICAL SERVICES IN THE COMMUNITY ARE EXPENSIVE AND WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND MEMBERS WITH DEPENDENTS OBTAIN TRICARE PRIME REMOTE SERVICE. HEALTH BENEFITS ADVISORS ARE AN EXCELLENT SOURCE FOR THIS INFORMATION. QUESTIONS SHOULD BE REFERRED TO THE COAST GUARD HEALTH BENEFITS HOTLINE AT 1- 800-942-2422.

TVL RESERVATIONS SHOULD BE MADE PRIOR TO REQUESTING ENTRY APPROVAL, BUT UNTIL APPROVAL IS GRANTED DO NOT INCUR ANY FINANCIAL OBLIGATION.
8. TEMPORARY LODGING ALLOWANCE (TLA): PERMANENT HOUSING WILL NOT BE READY IMMEDIATELY. MBR MUST ARRIVE ON APPROVED ENTRY DATE. TLA WILL NOT BE AUTH FOR EARLY ARRIVALS OR MBR ARRIVING PRIOR TO THEIR DEPNS. HOTEL/MOTEL TYPE QTRS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE, THEREFORE IF MBR ARRIVES PRIOR TO APPROVED ENTRY DATE, OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE COULD CAUSE HARDSHIP. TEMP LODGING MAY BE AVAIL AT ISC KODIAK GUEST HOUSING FOR MBR AND DEPNS OR BARRACKS FOR UNACCOMPANIED MBR. CALL ISC KODIAK HOUSING FOR DETAILS AT: TOLL FREE: 800/563-4252 (144/145) OR 907/487-5310 EXT 144/145.
