The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Department of Labor (DoL) and the Department of Education (DoE) all administer a number of employment, education, and training programs for veterans. The following is a summary of these programs:

The major programs offered are:

  • The Post-9/11 GI Bill
  • The Montgomery G.I. Bill - Active Duty
  • The Montgomery G.I. Bill - Selected Reserve
  • Veteran's Upward Bound
  • Veteran's Employment and Training

Remember: There may be many scholarships, special loans, grants, and more available outside of Federal Govt. It will take some research on your part, but take advantage of the time you have put into the service - it can and should be rewarded! You can get started by checking out the State Veteran Programs list.

Find out more about the G.I. Bills here:

Remember that G.I. Bill benefits only extend for a fixed period of time after you leave - generally 15 years for the Post-9/11 GI Bill,10 years for the Montgomery GI Bill, and 14 years for Selected Reserve.
