If you are a Reservist or National Guardsman called to Active Duty you may be worried about your health care coverage. Don't worry - you and your family are covered under TRICARE.
The following is a summary of the facts you need to know:
The DoD has announced that all members of the selected reserve now have the option to purchase their health coverage from TRICARE. Check out the TRICARE Reserve Select fact sheet to learn more.
In addition, as a reservist you may be eligible for the Transitional Assistance Management Program (TAMP).
When on military duty, Reserve Component (RC) members are covered for any injury, illness or disease incurred or aggravated in the line of duty. This includes traveling directly to or from the place where they perform military duty.
When ordered to active duty for more than 30 consecutive days, RC members and their family's heath and dental care needs are covered under several TRICARE options. TRICARE offers options: TRICARE Standard, TRICARE Extra, TRICARE Prime, and TRICARE Prime Remote for Active Duty Family Members (TPRADFM).
Reserve members and National Guard members called to active duty are covered under TRICARE. Family members are covered as well.
