Military Officer Insignias

The U.S. Military is steeped in tradition and symbolism. Much of this tradition is reflected in the titles and rank insignias. All branches of service share the same insignias for officer ranks, however the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard officers have an additional insignia on their shoulder boards and coat sleeves.

The tables below list the insignias and titles for each warrant officer and commissioned officers ranks W-1 through W-5 and O-1 through O-10 including the war time rank of 5-Star Generals and Admiral.

Note: The Coast Guard and Marine Corps do not have 5-Star officers.
