Overview: National Guard and Reserve Pay

Members of the National Guard or Selected Reserve devote one weekend for training each month, as well as extended training periods and serving the war effort by augmenting the active-duty U.S. military. In return, Guard and reserve members receive regular drill pay and other benefits. Each "Drill Weekend" counts as 4 Drill Periods for pay purposes. National Guard or Selected Reserve may also be eligible for special pays and allowances while serving in an active duty status.
