Prior Service Enlistment Bonus

Recruits receive oath of enlistment.

If you have prior military service you could qualify for either a 6-year or 3-year enlistment bonus. This bonus is only available with certain restrictions, and is not payable until completion of recruit training.

Who Is Eligible For A Prior Service Enlistment Bonus?

To be eligible for an enlistment bonus you must agree to serve for a specified period in at least one of the following reenlistment or extension categories:

  • A designated military skill
  • A designated career field
  • A designated unit
  • A designated grade

You also must complete any required military training to qualify.

Amount of Bonus

The bonus is currently worth up to $40,000 depending on the military skill and length of enlistment.
