With the time for official updates to U.S. military pay charts looming, there are a few things to consider before planning your budgets for 2014. While president Obama has proposed a 1% increase, a House of Representatives majority is trying to push a bill that includes a 1.8% increase instead.
According to Government Executive, "The White House threatened to veto the bill if it reaches the president in its current form. The statement specifically took issue with the legislation's pay provisions and rejection of the administration's recommended fee increases to TRICARE, the military's health care system."
For your convenience, we have included pay charts for both a 1% and a 1.8% increase. We strongly recommend treating this information as speculative until we can confirm which one will be officially accepted for 2014.
