Members of the National Guard or Selected Reserve, devote one weekend each month, extended training periods and serve the war effort by augmenting the active-duty U.S. military. In return Guard and reserve members receive regular drill pay and other benefits. Each "Drill Weekend" counts as 4 Drill Periods for pay purposes. National Guard or Selected Reserve, may also be eligible for special pays and allowances while serving in an active duty status.
Members of the National Guard or Selected Reserve normally serve (drill) one weekend a month and receive regular drill pay. When activated, they receive regular military pay.
