Defense Tech Blog on Military.com Gets New Voice

MCLEAN, Va., – December 29, 2010 – John Reed was announced as the new writer behind the popular Defense Tech blog on Military.com.

Reed follows in the footsteps of other top writers who have been at the helm of Defense Tech such as Christian Lowe and Greg Grant.  Reed says he is looking forward to the assignment saying it meshes perfectly with his intense interest in all things military and technical.

“I’m really fortunate to be able to earn my living doing something I love and, in the process, provide information to our troops.  But I will say the Defense Tech followers are a tough crowd.  They know their stuff and I just hope they’ll go easy on me in these first few weeks,” Reed said referencing the often-spirited discussions that take place on the blog.

Ward Carroll, editor of Military.com added, “Our number one goal is to provide relevant, timely news and John has a great background with which to mine those nuggets of information that will be of interest to our readers.”

Prior to joining Military.com, Reed was the air warfare staff writer for Defense News where he covered major trends in military aviation and the defense industry around the world.  Prior to that, he covered the U.S. Air Force and Congress for InsideDefense.com and its sister publication Inside the Air Force. A New England native, Reed graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a dual degree in international affairs and history.
