Restaurants, retailers and the entertainment industry shower military, veterans, retirees and their families with appreciation over Veterans Day weekend

McLean, Va – Military.com is showcasing the best Veterans Day discountsagain this year with free access to a list of businesses and organizations seeking to show their appreciation for servicemembers, veterans, retirees, and their families.

Major restaurant chains like Applebee's, California Pizza Kitchen and Denny's will all be offering special discounts for servicemembers and veterans. While many of the discounts are offered on Veterans Day, November 11th, some businesses like Bar Louie and McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurants chose to offer their discount on Sunday, November 10th in order to reach the weekend crowds.

"We are proud to honor our Veterans and salute the brave service they have provided our country," said Tilman J. Fertitta, Owner of McCormick & Schmick's. "We enjoy presenting them with a well deserved meal and the opportunity to enjoy a great dining experience with friends and family on this special day."

Other discounts are being offered on travel and recreation with deals from Knott's Berry Farm, Sea World and Red Roof Inn. Retailers offering special discounts include Bed, Bath and Beyond, Home Depot, and JC Penney to name just a few.

Veterans and military personnel should keep in mind that most businesses require proof of military service, which can include a VA Universal Access Card, Military I.D., DD-214 (Discharge Papers), Veterans Service Organization Card (VSO's include groups like the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, American Veterans, Military Officers Association of America, Fleet Reserve Association, and the American Legion), or in some cases businesses will accept a picture of the veteran in uniform.

Additionally, not all franchise locations participate in their national chain's Veterans Day programs -- be sure to contact your nearest establishment to make sure they are willing to honor the discount at that location.
