Code Name for the deep-ocean salvage operation by the U.S. CIA to retrieve the sunken Soviet ballistic missile submarine K-129 from the ocean floor in 1968. The submarine's destruction was detected by the U.S. Navy's Sound Surveillance System (SOSUS), and the location of the wreckage was pinpointed by the submarine Halibut towing cameras along the ocean floor.
The CIA constructed and manned a special salvage ship, the Hughes Glomar Explorer, which successfully lifted the forward portion of the K-129 from a record depth.
