3/2 AQ/Habbaniyah Reunion
I am organizing a Reunion for 3rdBN 2ndMAR for May of 2015 in honor of both our 2005 and 2006 deployments to Iraq. I have been in contact with the Marine Corps Museum in Virginia and I think this would be a great location for the Reunion. Date is set for Saturday May 24th, 2015. This month marks ten years for the kickoff of Operation Matador. Though the reunion is being held on this date, I have decided to do a combined reunion for both the 05 and 06 deployments. It only makes since to do one big one instead of two small ones in back to back years. It is Memorial Day weekend that weekend so there will be plenty of things to see and do. We can do the Museum on Saturday followed by the Reunion dinner at night and on Sunday we can nurse our hangovers and maybe do a trip the Arlington Cemetery or go see the sights. Chris Lafave is working on finding a hotel with reasonable rates that can accommodate a large block. He knows the DC area very well. Any suggestions or comments about hotels please post on here or email Chris @ Cllafave@gmail.com All 3/2 Marines and Sailors who participated in either deployment, or both, are invited to join fellow Betio Bastards. I am working on setting up a reception dinner on May 24th at the Museum which can hold up to 700 people in it's main ballroom. Lodging and other information will be updated as soon as I have coordinated with the Museum. Guest Speakers: I am working on getting a couple of guest speakers for the reunion. One for each deployment, Maybe Col. Mundy for 2005 and Sgt Major Menning from 2006. Feel free to make suggestions as well. ROUGH COSTS: Just a ballpark figure, It looks like ticket prices will be between $60 and $70 dollars. All depends on how many people are expected. I was told if we can get enough to attend, we can bump that price down. Price includes a dinner reception with CASH bar and admission to the Museum for the entire weekend. Please spread the word to all members and fellow Bastards. 10 years has come and gone and I know it would probably do a lot of good for the Marines and Sailors if we got together for a good time. Note: Gold Star parents are more than welcome to attend as well. Email me with any questions or concerns: JMarine311@yahoo.com Facebook Page:https://www.facebook.com/3rdBN2ndMAR/info. for all updates Hope to see all of you in May 2015. Jeff Maniscalco
