I am posting the following info received about a upcoming reunion for Folks that were stationed in Morocco from the 1950's through closing.

It?s time again to think again about making plans on attending the HCMB reunion this coming summer. It?s going to be a blast !!!!!
The reunion will be held again this year at the beautiful camping location of Colby Lake Campground located just south of Stanton, Michigan and it will be held on the weekend of August 2nd and 3rd.
It is going to be on the same concept as all the previous reunions. It will be a camping festival.
If you are planning to drive to Mich. for the event bring whatever you want to make you camping comfortable. ie, I have enough room for motor homes, RV?s, travel trailer?s, horse trailer?, tents, pop-up campers, whatever you have available. There is plenty of room and plenty of lake-front views. There are facilities on the property equipped with a flush toilet and hot showers.. There will also be porta-potties scattered throughout the camping areas. I will also be renting an ice machine again this year. It worked well at the last reunion and saves everyone time and funds. There will be plenty of ice available for all your cooling needs.
Anybody planning on flying in for the reunion? There are airports through out the state. Detroit is a 3 hr. drive and Chicago is a 4 hr. drive. If you can fly into either Lansing or Grand Rapids and they are both about an hour away from Stanton and the campground. We can arrange to pick you up at either Lansing or Grand Rapids and save you the cost of the rental car. Anyone planning on flying can always UPS or FEDEX their camping equipment, tents, sleeping bags, AIR MATTRESS?S, bag chairs to my address prior to the reunion and we can ship them back after the event. There is a UPS store located approximately 15 miles from here.
Anybody that will not be camping there are a few motels in the area. The closest is The Half Moon Motel that is only 1 mile from my property. The Phone# is 989-831-4708 or 989-831-4685. There is the Midway Inn located in Carson City which is about 20 miles from here and the phone # 989-584-2404. There is also a Super 8 Motel in Edmore, which is about 15 miles away and the phone # is toll free 866-550-8838.
The date of the reunion will be August 2nd for those of you only able to make it for a day. For those of you with more time the campground will be open for 4 weeks prior and 4 weeks after the reunion date. (I have lots of time this year). Come and stay as long as your schedule will allow. There will be a community kitchen area set-up again this year so bring your favorite tail-gaiting, campfire, bar-b-q, and MOROCCAIN recipes to share and enjoy.

Activities to do while you are here. There is a lake here on the property so bring your fishing poles if you want. By sheer coincidence, the HCMB Horseshoe World Championship Tournament is being held this same weekend. There are miles of trails on and adjoining my property where there is bicycle riding and hiking possible. The HCMB shuttle bus will be in operation again for getting around.
If there is any interest, I have a good friend who owns and operates a charter fishing service on Lake Michigan. Go to www.sportboatcharters.com and take a look. We would need 4-6 participants and we could possibly have a grilled salmon day. If there is interest in this let me know so I could book the day (mid-week) well in advance. I have been out on Capt. Levi?s boat before and I will say he certainly knows how and where to catch salmon.
To cover the cost of the reunion, again this time I plan on selling raffle tickets and giving away door prizes. If you would like to provide a trinket to be used as a door prize please feel free to participate. These tickets will cover the cost of ice machine, tent and chairs, and porta-potties, and probably a hog for roasting.
Whether this is your first time at an HCMB Reunion or a Reunion veteran, please plan on attending. Come early, stay long, eat much, tell stories and laugh and enjoy the bonfires. Bring your family and friends.
